Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to contribute to this grand adventure in watershed care - whether it’s with time and talents, physical labor, networking, or financial donations. We are grateful to our community for decades of support in all these ways. Click to learn more about some of our opportunities to get involved:

Volunteer Instructors

Our education programs rely on volunteers from the community - we could not run our lessons for students without you! Be a volunteer instructor at the Outdoor Classroom, or help our team of Middle School Marine Science educators in classrooms and in the field. Explore volunteer docent opportunities with our newest adventure in community education: the Environmental Learning Center.

Land Stewards

The properties we manage could always use a helping hand. We organize and host a handful of land stewardship work parties per year, and invite you to participate in creating wildlife and fish habitat at one of our restoration sites. We bring the tools and work alongside volunteers in efforts to restore and make improvements on the land.

You can participate with Whidbey Watershed Stewards in many other ways:

  • Explore membership on our Board of Directors and participate in the operations of our non-profit and programming

  • Join a Committee (Financial, Fundraising, Education, Stewardship, Events, Personnel, etc.) and dig into the details of our program work

  • Lead a group in a service/learning project on one of our restoration sites

  • Encouraging a class or small group to sign up for our lessons

  • Help out in the Classroom or ELC office with mailings, newsletters, and organizing

  • Invite us to make a presentation on watershed stewardship at your next event
